Happy Friday all!

What a fantastic first week we have had in Year 4! It has been lovely getting to know the children, settling into our new routines and beginning to get to know one another. I have really enjoyed my first few days with the class and I am looking forward to the weeks ahead.

We have also enjoyed making a start on our new class book, The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. The children have been introduced to this exciting story, and we are looking forward to exploring it further through our reading and writing lessons.

I hope to see many of you tomorrow at our school firework display. It promises to be a fantastic evening, and all money raised will go towards supporting our school. Thank you in advance to everyone who comes along!

PE Timetable – Autumn 2

Our current PE timetable for this half term is:

  • Monday: 30-minute PE session – trainers only.

  • Wednesday: 1-hour PE session.

  • Friday afternoon: 1-hour PE session (our last lesson of the day – football).

Please ensure that children have the appropriate footwear and PE kit for their sessions.

Homework Expectations

Our regular homework expectations remain as follows:

Reading

  • 5 x 10-minute reading sessions each week.

  • Children should read aloud to an adult.

  • Please ensure each session is recorded in their orange reading record.

Spellings

  • Children should practise their spellings regularly throughout the week.

  • Spelling tests will take place every Monday.

  • The new spelling lists will be uploaded to the blog every Monday for children to practise at home.

Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS)

  • 1 hour of online maths practice each week.

  • I recommend completing 3 x 20-minute sessions.

  • This will help children develop their multiplication and division skills and prepare for their Times Tables test later this academic year.

If you do not have your child's TTRS login details, please email me and I will be happy to provide them.

Spellings – Test on Monday

Please find this week's spelling lists below. Remember to practise these at home ahead of Monday's test. The next set of spellings will be uploaded to the blog on Monday.
