Hello Year 4!

PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
On Monday morning the children will be having a science workshop as it is science week. If any of you are happy to volunteer on Monday morning to help run the workshop that would be very helpful. If you are able to help, please email me.

What a lovely week we have had with much approved behaviour. Please make sure it continues! Rehersals for our play ‘Rock Bottom’ are in full swing. The music and lyrics have been posted on the KS2 Production website. This can be found on www.littleheathks2production.blogspot.com. You can also find them on YouTube by typing in Rock Bottom lyrics.

Highlights of the week
It was so lovely to see you all dressed up in your favourite characters for world book day! During world book day the children took part in a Quidditch game which was incredibly entertaining to watch! The children really enjoyed putting lots of their skills together in this game. I was running around dressed as Hagrid trying to keep up with the pace of the game to take some photos!

The children have been working really well with their maths this week and have been using the column method to add and subtract decimals. The class have been working really hard on their presentation in their maths books and understanding how laying out their work neatly can help with the accuracy of their answers. In English we have been focusing on the book ‘The Black Book of Colours’ for world book day, which is a story about a boy called Thomas who is blind and he describes the colours of the world through his other senses. The class came up with their own poems based on the colours of the rainbow and used their sense of smell, taste, touch and heart to describe the particular colour. I was so impressed with the creativity and beautiful description in their poems.  Also, congratulations are in order for the children whose spooky sagas were chosen from the Young Writers competition for their stories to be published! You should be incredibly proud of yourselves! Please make sure you have replied either online by the 15/03/19 or with the written reply slip to me by Monday 11/03/19 so I can ensure these are sent off on time.

Next week is science week! We will be having maths lessons as normal but our other areas of the curriculum will be based around the theme which is journeys. We will be looking specifically at the journey of the water cycle and researching a mystery famous scientist!

Spellings:
This week we are focusing on words that end is ‘cian’.
musician
magician

Please note, from Monday the children will be dismissed from the main entrance to the school from the infant playground. This is the clear double doors near the garden area. This is to allow more space when the children are leaving. The children will not be allowed out of the building until they have been dismissed with an adult so please make sure you make yourself visible at these doors.
Have a lovely weekend!
Miss Bradford
