 Good Afternoon Year 4, 

We have had an exciting maths day trying lots of different activities. The children have completed tangrams, magic squares and colouring by knowing their times tables. A great effort from all the children showing resilience and determination. In English, the children have continued to enjoy the story of Alice in Wonderland. They have written the beginning of the story, detailing their ideas of what Wonderland looks like.

Projects

Thank you for all the projects that have been completed and handed in so efficiently. They are all fantastic. 

For this half term, the children will not be expected to complete a project as they are required to learn the songs and the dances for the show. 

Next Week

English - We  will be finishing writing our setting and beginning to read the story of Oliver. 

Maths - We will be continuing our learning on fractions. We will be finding equivalent fractions and converting improper fractions.

Science - We will be looking closely at evaporation and condensation.

Computing - We will be continuing to create our games.

Geography - We will be identifying some volcanoes in the world. 

Art - We will be learning about William Morris.

RE - We will be focusing on what it means to make a choice. 

Please continue to practise your times tables online using Soundcheck on TTRS, and read daily.

Good Afternoon Year 4,

The children have been working very hard this week across the curriculum. In Maths, we have been learning to add and subtract decimals using formal column methods and applying this knowledge to solve word problems. In English the children have been reading Alice in Wonderland - Lewis Carroll. We have started to write playscripts based on the story ready for our use to act out the play. The children have really enjoyed being the characters in text, interpreting these characters in different ways. This week we have also been focusing on what makes a good friend and how we conduct ourselves when there are disagreements. The class have reflected on their own behaviour and have discussed what fantastic qualities they all have. 

PE

Next week we will have PE on Monday (Before Lunch), Tuesday afternoon (football) and Thursday (rugby) after lunch. The children will need two outdoor kits for these sessions. 

Please be aware all clubs will begin next week. 

Next Week 

Maths - We will be solving money problems. 

English - We will be writing our own Playscript based on another story. We will also continue to read Alice in Wonderland.

Science - We will be describing how water melts and freezes and what states these change to.

Computing - We will be continuing to make loops. It is Internet Safety Week next week so we will be completing tasks based on e - safety. 

History - We will be learning about Egyptian Gods.

PSHE - What is my dream and how can I reach it? 

Please ensure you are practising times tables with your children. Please use the Soundcheck area on TTRS. Please also remember the children should be reading daily at home.
