12/05/23

Good afternoon,

I hope you all had a wonderful Coronation weekend although it does feel as though that was a long time ago. We have been working very hard in Year 4 to solve time problems and understand how to convert time from different units. In English, we are writing a discussion text. The children are balancing their arguments and giving supporting reasons. Next week is 'Walk to School Week'. I will be encouraging all the children to walk to school if they can or park and stride. As a means of encouragement, I pledge myself to support this and try and walk where I can.

Wednesday 17th May - Stanborough Lakes.

Next week

English – We will be writing a story.

Maths – We will be learning how to use long division.

Science - We will be identifying what makes a complete and incomplete circuit.

RE - We will be discussing the Bhagavad Gita.

Art and Design - We will be making our moving toy. (Please provide one box)

Computing - We will be finishing our short videos.

Half Term Project

This half term the children are required to make their own fraction game. This should be an innovative, engaging game that they have sequenced using their fraction knowledge from our maths lessons. Please try to make the game no bigger than an A3 sheet as space is limited in the classroom. If the children prefer, they can make it an interactive game using PPT or a card game.

Please ensure the children have solved their own problems before putting them into the game.

This project is due in from Monday 15th May 2023.

Have Fun!

Please ensure the children are using TTRS as much as possible to practice their times tables. In Year 4, it is helpful for the children to secure their recall of times tables in preparation for Year 5. The children should also ensure they are practicing their use of homophones/near homophones. There is a list below to support your understanding.

Happy Eurovision Weekend.
