Week ending 15th December 2023

 Hello Year One,

The children have had so much fun this week. They have rehearsed the Christmas Carol Concert in church today and it was a polished performance! On Monday evening they will perform for you and it will be a treat!

We have been completing projects this week and the children have finally completed a full newspaper report. They put a lot of effort into this piece of work and were very pleased with the outcome.

We have completed factor pairs in our maths lessons and have spent some time experimenting with different pencil thickness to work on shading. They went from there to creating a Winter scene which will be displayed in the corridor next week.

Today the children thoroughly enjoyed their Christmas lunch.

This afternoon they chose a movie, sang Christmas songs and spent time colouring Christmas pictures.

Week ending 8th December

 Hello Year One,

I am so sorry that my post last week was put on Year Five's wall instead of ours! I do apologise.

This week we have been busy as the end of term is approaching. We still have a lot to do!

The children have been learning about report writing in English and next week they will gradually move on to write their own reports. We have also been learning about paragraphs and the children were able to write a well known story using paragraphs in the appropriate places.

For maths we carried out the end of block assessment and the children did well. It helps us recognise if there is any revision we need to do before we move on. So many have learned their times tables, which helped speed up their calculations.. We are moving on to recognise and use factors and multiply by 100 and 1000.

For history we learned about the number systems for early civilisations. The children found this fascinating and learned to use them with ease.

For ICT the children have been learning how to send an email, working on  their typing speed and type up their book reviews.

We completed our learning about The Holy Trinity in our RE lesson.

Next week we will be completing the projects we currently have on the go.
