Dear Parents,

It’s been a rainy week, but that certainly hasn’t held us back! In maths, we’ve been pushing ourselves by placing numbers up to 10,000 on a number line. The children have been working hard to calculate the difference between numbers and then dividing this by the number of intervals—quite the challenge, but they’ve done brilliantly!

In English, we’ve continued our exploration of the Greek goddess, Venus, with the children writing diary entries and letters from her perspective. Their creativity and imagination have really shone through! In art, we’ve been recreating some of Picasso’s famous works, focusing on the colours he used. Keep an eye out—we’ll be auctioning these masterpieces for millions in the coming weeks!

In science, we’ve deepened our understanding of the digestive system, learning how everything is connected and works together to keep our bodies functioning properly.

Looking ahead to next week, we’ll be diving into geography by exploring the inhabitants of the world’s rainforests and why these environments are so suitable for them. In ICT, we’ll continue learning about the internet and discovering what makes a website work.

We’re also excited for the school book fair, which will be open after school on Thursday 3rd, Friday 4th, Monday 7th, and Tuesday 8th of October. The children can even win a £5 voucher by creating a front cover and blurb for a story—the competition closes on Wednesday 2nd, so there’s still time to get creative!

Wishing you all a happy weekend, and fingers crossed for some better weather!

Best regards,

Mr Chanter

 Dear Parents,

We’ve had a wonderful and sunny week in Year 4! The children have been learning all about the different layers of the rainforest and exploring the fascinating animals that live within each of these habitats. In English, we’ve been studying the Roman Goddess, Venus, and the children have been writing free verse poems inspired by Botticelli’s famous painting, The Birth of Venus. In science, our ‘eggsperiment’ is almost complete! The children have been investigating how different drinks affect eggshells as a comparison to how they impact our teeth. The results have been really surprising, and we’re looking forward to discussing them further.

Next week, we have plenty of exciting things planned. In computing, we’ll be learning about the internet, how it is used, and how to stay safe online. In English, we will be doing some creative writing based on our class book, The Romans, Gods, Emperors, and Dormice. In maths, we’ll be continuing our work on place value, focusing on placing and comparing numbers on number lines up to 10,000. In science, we’ll be diving deeper into the digestive system, learning about its different parts and how they work together.

I’m also excited to let you know that our annual book fair will be held after school on Thursday 3rd, Friday 4th, Monday 7th, and Tuesday 8th of October. We hope you and your children will come along and enjoy exploring some great books!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Dear Parents,

We’ve officially completed our first full week of school, and Year 4 is well underway! It’s been a busy and exciting start. This week, we elected our school house captains and school council representatives.

In class, we’ve started exploring Greek Myths and Legends in English, diving into the fascinating world of gods and goddesses. In maths, the focus has been on place value, where the children are learning to read, write, and order numbers up to 10,000. Our science topic, ‘Animals including Humans,’ introduced us to the digestive system, while in art, we’ve been discovering Picasso’s work and experimenting with his techniques in our own creative projects.

Starting next week, our PE days will be Monday (fitness), Thursday (basketball), and Friday (football). Please ensure your child has their PE kit ready for these days. In science, we’ll be conducting an experiment to explore how different drinks affect teeth, while learning about the importance of dental care. In computing, we’ll be exploring networking and discovering how messages are delivered between systems.

It’s going to be an exciting week ahead! I hope you all enjoy your weekend!

Hello Everyone,

Welcome back to a new year at Little Heath! It has been an absolute pleasure getting to know the children during our first week of the school year. I’m delighted to say that they have all settled in wonderfully, and they’ve also made me feel very welcome in my new role here.
This week, the children have been involved in a variety of activities, including creating postcards to share their Summer adventures, playing fun maths games, and crafting beautiful stain glass window artwork. It’s been a fantastic start, and I’m excited for the year ahead with such a wonderful group of children.

Looking ahead to next week, we’ll be diving into some exciting topics. In English, we will begin our first text on Greek Myths and Legends. In maths, we’ll be focusing on place value, where the children will learn to read, write, and order numbers up to 10,000. In science, we’ll start our topic ‘Animals including Humans,’ exploring life stages. In geography, we’ll be learning where our food comes from and its impact on the planet, while in art, we’ll be discovering Picasso’s work and experimenting with some of his techniques in our own projects.
I look forward to getting to know all of you throughout the year. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Have a lovely weekend!
Mr Chanter
