23/11/18

Hello Year 4!

Highlights of the week:
This week the children have been working really hard on all areas of the curriculum. They have produced some fantastic mythical characters based on the myths and legends texts we have been reading and writing. They have also worked really hard completing a range of maths games this week focusing on halving and doubling to help introduce fractions. The children have additionally created some fantastic designs for their mechanical posters in D&T. We are really excited to start creating our posters with levers and linkages next week. The children have also created our ‘Random act of kindness advent calendar’. The children have written and draw an act of kindness to be completed on the day the envelope is opened. We are all looking forward to opening these when December arrives!

Next week:
I am looking forward to seeing many of you at our class assembly next Friday at 9:00am. All are welcome, including young children. We just ask if you would kindly take them outside if they are making a lot of noise to ensure the performance isn’t interrupted. The children are really excited to share their learning with you.

English
We are finishing our work on myths and legends.

Spellings
This week we are looking at words with ‘eig’ and ‘ei’. A lot of children were very disappointed with their score in our spellings test this week and said that they had not been practising at home. It is really important that children are practising at home as well as during our spelling activities in class to ensure they are progressing their learning.

For those of you who are coming to the maths meeting on Tuesday at 7pm, I look forward to seeing you there. This is a great opportunity which will be discussing how to support your child with maths at home.

Please make sure that you are reading, practising your spellings, times tables and completing Mathletics at home.

Have a lovely weekend and I look forward to seeing you on Monday.
