05/07/19

Good afternoon Year 4!

We have certainly been blessed with the weather this week, and we have taken advantage of the outdoor classroom in the gorgeous sunshine.

Highlights of the week:
A few weeks ago, all of the children wrote poems about freedom which were submitted to the Queenswood poetry competition. Daisy, Annabelle and Anastasia's poems were chosen and as a result the girls were invited to a poetry workshop at Queenswood on Tuesday. They had the opportunity to meet a poet along with children from lots of different schools and create a whole group performance poem. They also had a talk with the author Catherine Johnson, who spoke about her experience writing her historical fiction novels. There was a prize giving ceremony at the end where all of the chosen poems were judged and I am incredibly proud to announce that Daisy was a runner up! I am immensely proud of all the children who submitted their poems and huge congratulations to Daisy for coming second out of all the entries!
This week Veer-Ram took the whole school assembly on Thursday in which he spoke about climate change and what we are doing to our environment. He spoke with such confidence and really engaged the children in what we can do to make a change. Well done Veer-Ram!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR NEXT WEEK:

Next week is parents consultations. Please make sure you check your confirmed time online to ensure everybody gets their allocated slot.

Next Tuesday afternoon (during school) Year 6 are running The Apprentice. This is an afternoon where they run food, drink, goods and game stalls in the hope to raise the most money for charity.
