Hello Year Four,
We have had a busy week, despite not being able to go on our field work trip. I am glad we cancelled as the weather did not improve that day. I have re-scheduled the walk for next Thursday 15th February, so please ensure the children have an extra pair of boots and waterproof coat. They will need to bring their boots in a named plastic bag.
We have been working on division within 2 numbers this week in our maths lessons.
For English we have begun a new project based on the story of Alice in Wonderland. The children have been reading the play script.
It was 'mental health week' so we did a lot of work on core strengths.
It was also 'safer internet day' so we looked at AI and how to stay safe online.
We had a meditation today and circle time. We discussed how we manage disappoitment and the children wrote about their personal experiences.
NEXT WEEK
English
We will continue our project on play scripts. The children will be writing a scene from Alice in Wonderland. They will be using scripts to set up props and act the scene. They will be videoing the scenes and analysing them.
Maths
We will continue to work on division and our times tables next week. There will be an end of topic assessment.
Science
The children will be experimenting with chocolate next week as they investigate the affect of water temperature.
Geography
Hopefully the weather will be appropriate for our field trip. Following this the children will be analysing data and assessing how it would affect people if the wooded area was destroyed. We will be looking at how this relates to areas within the Amazon Rainforest.
RE
We will be thinking about how we use certain places and spaces in our lives for prayer, reflection, peace and quiet. We will consider how this differs to going to a place of worship.
